Knoles Electric, Cameron, came in and rewired our entire house. He had to climb in the attic as well as crawl under our house to get the job done. Since our recent renovation was over 35years ago, he suggested updating our lighting. He installed a bunch of Halo 4” canless LED recessed lights in our living room, kitchen and bathroom. These lights provide great lighting while remaining almost hidden. We got rid of our ceiling fans and had him install simple 15” lights.
Overall…Cameron did a great job. I would definitely recommend him.

1. How do I know if I need a panel upgrade?
If your breakers trip frequently, your lights flicker, you hear buzzing from the panel, or you are still using a fuse box, you likely need an upgrade. Also, if you are adding central AC, a hot tub, or an EV charger, a load calculation is required to see if your current panel can handle it.
2. What is the difference between 100 Amp and 200 Amp service?
Amperage is the “volume” of electricity available to your home. 100 Amps was standard decades ago, but modern homes with multiple TVs, computers, and appliances often max this out. 200 Amps is the modern standard, providing plenty of “headroom” for safety and future additions
3. How long does a main panel replacement take?
In most cases, we can complete a panel swap in a single day (6–8 hours) to minimize disruption to your routine. We coordinate with HECO to ensure power is back on before we leave.
4. What is "Panel Refreshing"?
If your panel housing is in good shape but the insides are messy or worn, we can “refresh” it. This involves organizing the wires, tightening loose connections, and replacing old breakers with new ones, saving you the cost of a full replacement.
5. Can you replace my old Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel?
Yes, and we highly recommend it. These specific brands of panels (common in older Hawaii homes) lost their UL listing years ago because they often fail to trip during a surge, leading to fires. Replacing them is a critical safety priority.
6. What is E-mon D-mon metering?
This is a sub-metering system. If you have an Ohana unit or a rental space attached to your home, this device tracks exactly how much electricity that specific space uses, so you can bill the tenant accurately rather than guessing or splitting the bill 50/50.
7. Do you handle the permits?
Yes. Electrical service upgrades almost always require a permit. We handle the paperwork and the inspection scheduling so you don’t have to worry about code compliance.
8. What is a Sub Panel?
Think of a sub panel as a “satellite” office for your main panel. If your main panel is full (no slots left for breakers), or if you are building an addition far from the main panel, we install a sub panel to distribute power to that specific area safely.
9. Can I just add a bigger breaker for my new AC?
No! This is dangerous. The breaker size must match the wire size. Putting a 30 Amp breaker on a wire rated for 15 Amps can melt the wire and start a fire inside your walls. We always check wire gauge before changing breakers.
10. Why are my breakers "double-tapped"?
