Knoles Electric, Cameron, came in and rewired our entire house. He had to climb in the attic as well as crawl under our house to get the job done. Since our recent renovation was over 35years ago, he suggested updating our lighting. He installed a bunch of Halo 4” canless LED recessed lights in our living room, kitchen and bathroom. These lights provide great lighting while remaining almost hidden. We got rid of our ceiling fans and had him install simple 15” lights.
Overall…Cameron did a great job. I would definitely recommend him.

1. How much does it cost to install an EV charger?
The cost depends on the distance from your electrical panel to your parking spot. A “back-to-back” install (panel on one side of the wall, charger on the other) is the most affordable. Long wire runs across a home or trenching through a yard increase the cost. Contact us for a specific quote.
2. Can I just plug my car into a dryer outlet?
Technically yes, if the outlet is the right type (NEMA 14-50) and located in the garage. However, standard dryer outlets aren’t designed for the daily plugging/unplugging wear and tear of an EV. We recommend installing a heavy-duty, industrial-grade receptacle or a hardwired station.
3. Do I need to upgrade my electrical panel?
It depends. If you have a 200 Amp panel, you are usually fine. If you have an older 100 Amp panel and run AC, an electric range, and a dryer, adding an EV might require a service upgrade or a “Load Management” device to prevent tripping the main breaker.
4. What is better: Hardwired or Plug-in? Hardwired is better.
It looks cleaner (no visible plug), it is safer (fewer connection points to loosen), and it allows for faster charging speeds (up to 48-60 Amps). Plug-in units are limited to 40 Amps.
5. Do you install chargers for Condos/HOAs?
Yes. We can work with your property management to determine if your building has the capacity for a charger in your stall and install the necessary sub-metering if required.
6. Does the charger come with the installation?
Usually, you purchase the charger (like a Tesla Wall Connector) directly from the manufacturer, and we provide the installation services (wiring, breaker, conduit, labor). However, we can advise you on which charger to buy.
7. Can I charge two cars at once?
Yes. Many modern chargers allow for “Power Sharing.” We can install two chargers on a single circuit, and they will talk to each other to split the power automatically so you don’t overload the system.
8. Is there a tax credit for installation?
Often, yes. The Federal “Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit” may cover 30% of the installation cost (up to $1,000) for residential properties in certain census tracts. Check with your tax professional for the latest Hawaii and Federal incentives.
9. How fast will a Level 2 charger fill my battery?
Most Level 2 chargers will fill an empty battery in 6 to 9 hours. This means if you plug in at 8 PM, you will have 100% range by the time you leave for work at 7 AM.
10. Will the salt air damage my charger?
If installed outdoors, yes. We recommend buying chargers that are NEMA-4 rated for weather. We also use PVC or Stainless Steel hardware to mount the charger, avoiding standard steel that rusts quickly in Hawaii.
